Ateneo de Manila: Divine Adili's Body Returned to Nigeria

Ateneo de Manila University (AdMU) announced on Thursday, June 25, 2026, that the body of its basketball player, Divine Adili, has arrived in his home country of Nigeria.

Official Statement from the University

“We are grateful to share that Divine Adili has safely returned home to Nigeria, where he was received by his family upon his arrival in Lagos,” read a portion of the official statement from AdMU, published on www.gmanews.tv.

AdMU representative Fr. Sigmund ‘Munching’ de Guzman, SJ, personally accompanied the body of Adili to his family.

Background of the Incident

Adili was one of two members of the Blue Eagles who lost their lives after drowning during a team-building activity on June 8. The other victim was Rene Baterbonia, whose body was recently buried in his hometown in Agusan del Sur.
