An 18-year-old motorcycle rider died in a self-accident early on Father's Day morning, June 21, 2026, along the South Road Properties (SRP) in Cebu City, police reported.
Victim Identified
The victim was identified as Yuri Benjamin Tatoy Gabut, 18, single, and a resident of Harmonis Residences, Barangay Tabunok, Talisay City. He was driving a Yamaha Aerox motorcycle with plate number G5F438.
Accident Details
According to the initial investigation by the Traffic Enforcement Unit of the Cebu City Police Office, the victim was traveling on the SRP and made a U-turn near Il Corso heading northbound toward Cebu City. Upon reaching the area in front of the NUSTAR Hotel, he suddenly lost control of the handlebars, resulting in a self-accident.
A hotel security guard who witnessed the incident said he saw the driver swerve before falling.
Fatal Impact
Due to the force of the impact, the victim sustained severe head and body injuries and was declared dead on the spot by responding medical personnel.
The victim's body was taken to St. Francis Funeral Services. Police continue to conduct a spot report and further investigation into the accident.
