Mark Meneses once again delivered a stellar all-around performance to guide the Cebu Greats to a 74-61 victory over the Quezon City Black Bulls in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) on Monday night, June 29, 2026. Meneses earned Best Player of the Game honors after tallying 15 points, 10 rebounds, three blocks, and two steals, serving as Cebu's anchor on both ends of the floor.

Cebu extends winning streak to five

With the win, the Greats improved their record to 12-3 and extended their winning streak to five games, while Quezon City dropped to 6-8 after suffering its second consecutive defeat. The game started tightly, with Cebu holding a slim 19-17 lead after the first quarter. The Greats then stretched their advantage to 36-26 at halftime and maintained control with a 59-49 lead heading into the fourth quarter.

In the final period, Quezon City mounted a short rally as Kobe Monje and MJ Joson combined to cut into the deficit. However, the Cebu Greats responded with strong play from the trio of Kint Ariar, Alvin Baetiong, and Camillus Altamirano, who took turns scoring to reclaim momentum.

Meneses returns to seal the game

After a brief rest, Meneses returned midway through the fourth quarter and immediately scored on a putback off an offensive rebound. He followed that with a block against Christian Jake Agoncillo, effectively crushing Quezon City's hopes. Andre Armenion also orchestrated Cebu's offense in the final minutes and converted free throws, while Wowie Escosio, who finished with nine points and five rebounds, held down the paint.

Baetiong ended the game with 10 points and eight rebounds, while Ariar also contributed 10 points. Armenion, the steady point guard, posted six points, eight assists, four rebounds, and three steals.

Quezon City's top performers

Valandre Chauca led Quezon City with 14 points and six assists, Christian Jake Agoncillo tallied 13 points, and Kobe Monje added 12 points. MJ Joson chipped in nine points in the losing effort.
