Don Bosco and SHS-AdC Renew Rivalry in El Clasico Deux Football Rematch
Don Bosco and SHS-AdC Face Off in El Clasico Deux

Don Bosco Technical College (DBTC) and Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC) will reignite their storied football rivalry in the second edition of El Clasico, dubbed “El Clasico Deux,” on Saturday, June 27, 2026. The match will be held at the Dynamic Herb-Borromeo Sports Complex in Talisay City, with kickoff set to follow preliminary matches between the schools’ elementary and high school teams.

Fundraising Event for Varsity Programs

The event, presented by Elan Vita Diagnostic Solutions, serves as a fundraising initiative for both schools’ varsity programs. Organizer Chad Songalia confirmed that the format remains consistent with last year’s inaugural clash. “This is part two of last year’s ‘El Clasico.’ It will still be the same — a fund-raising event for both schools’ varsity programs,” Songalia said.

In the first El Clasico held at the Cebu City Sports Center, DBTC secured a dramatic 4-3 penalty shootout victory over SHS-AdC. DBTC enters this year’s rematch with apparent depth on its roster, but team captain and Maharlika FC goalkeeper Kenry Balobo remains cautious. “Maybe this year it will be more exciting. There is no easy game in football. Anything can happen, and any team can win,” Balobo said.

Roster Updates and Key Absences

Both squads have been training together for nearly a month and are finalizing rosters exceeding 30 players each. DBTC will field at least five current players but will be without Kamil Amirul, who is currently playing overseas for Malaysia Super League club Penang FC. SHS-AdC, meanwhile, will miss standouts Leo Maquiling and Kintaro Miyagi.

Despite being considered underdogs on paper, SHS-AdC remains confident. Team representative Pomeroy John Veloso expressed optimism: “We’re expecting a great match. We have two of the greatest high school football teams in Cebu. We know that the alumni of Don Bosco are the best that Don Bosco has produced. But for us, we come prepared. We also have lots of good players. We are looking forward to a great game.”

Match Format and Ticketing

The main event will be played in three 40-minute periods, allowing more than 30 players from each squad to see action. Tickets will be sold at the venue on match day. Preliminary matches involving the elementary and high school teams of both institutions will precede the highly anticipated alumni showdown.
