Cristiano Ronaldo silenced his critics by etching his name in history during Portugal's 5-0 victory over Uzbekistan on Wednesday, June 24, 2026 (PH time), at the World Cup in Houston, USA.
Ronaldo's Historic Achievement
In the match, Ronaldo scored two goals, becoming the first player ever to register goals in six editions of the prestigious football tournament.
"I'm back, I'm back," the 41-year-old Ronaldo shouted in front of television cameras after the game.
Silencing the Doubters
Earlier, questions had been raised about why Portugal still included Ronaldo in their squad, given that he had not scored in their last 10 major matches, which some saw as a sign that the football superstar's abilities were waning.
"As the saying goes, every cloud has a silver lining. Obviously, speaking personally, records are always nice but my goal is always to help the national team achieve its objectives," Ronaldo explained.
