Wembanyama and Knicks Condemn Fan Attacks

Victor Wembanyama of the San Antonio Spurs, along with the New York Knicks organization, condemned the attacks by Knicks fans on Spurs supporters following Game 3 of the National Basketball Association (NBA) Finals outside Madison Square Garden in New York on Tuesday, June 9, 2026 (PH time).

After learning that numerous videos had surfaced on social media showing Knicks fans attacking Spurs fans in various streets, Wembanyama voiced his criticism of the behavior.

“My thoughts of course are that we can't forget it's a game. We're just playing a game out there. I am all for passion, but with the respect of each other. It's unacceptable,” said Wembanyama, who scored 32 points to lead the Spurs to a 115-111 victory in the game, cutting the Knicks' lead in the series to 2-1.

ABC News reported that the New York Police Department (NYPD) arrested 21 individuals involved in the disturbances.

Knicks star Karl-Anthony Towns also condemned the incident.

“We want everyone to enjoy basketball at its purest state. It's the NBA Finals. There's no better place to watch basketball. Leave the physicality to everyone on the court,” Towns said.
