Filipino pool legend Francisco “Django” Bustamante proved he still has what it takes as he defeated American Evan Lunda, 4-0, to claim the championship of the 2026 Buffalo’s Pro Classic 1 Ball One Pocket Division on Thursday, May 21, 2026 (Philippine time), held at 5015 Bloomfield in Jefferson, Louisiana, USA.
Veteran Champion Shows Class
At the age of 62, Bustamante displayed the same skill that made him a world champion in 2010, pocketing the $3,700 grand prize. He started his tournament campaign with equally thrilling victories, winning 4-3 against Americans Mike Delawder and Bobby Emmons in his first two matches.
Path to the Finals
In the quarter-finals, Bustamante defeated another American, Josh Roberts, 4-2. He then advanced to the finals after overcoming Alex Lely of the Netherlands, 4-3, in the semi-finals.
Bustamante is the second Filipino, following Efren “Bata” Reyes, to be inducted into the Billiard Congress of America Hall of Fame.
