Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) Chairman Patrick “Pato” Gregorio is set to attend the 40th Sportswriters Association of Cebu-San Miguel Brewery (SAC-SMB) Cebu Sports Awards as the Guest of Honor and Speaker. This significant event will take place on March 8, 2026, at the Ayala Center Cebu Activity Center, highlighting his ongoing commitment to Philippine sports.
A Meaningful Return to Cebu
For Gregorio, this appearance represents a sweet homecoming. He resided in Cebu for six years from 2000 to 2006, serving as General Manager of the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino and as chairman of the Cebu Visitors and Convention Bureau. During his tenure, he played a pivotal role in promoting the province as a premier destination for sports tourism, leveraging his expertise to boost local economic and athletic development.
Distinguished Career in Sports and Business
At 58 years old, Gregorio is an established entrepreneur, hotelier, and sports executive. He currently holds the position of the 13th chairman of the PSC, the government agency tasked with advancing sports development across the nation. Before ascending to this leadership role, Gregorio accumulated extensive experience in various sports organizations.
His previous roles include serving as president of the Philippine Rowing Association, where he oversaw the qualification of Filipino rowers for both the 2020 Tokyo and 2024 Paris Olympics. Additionally, he acted as secretary-general of the Association of Boxing Alliances in the Philippines (ABAP), chairman of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) during the 2014–2015 season, and a member of the Executive Board of Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP).
Contributions to Sports Marketing and Management
Gregorio has also made significant contributions to sports marketing initiatives, notably with Smart Communications. He led DuckWorld PH, a sports management company that successfully revived the historic "Tour of Luzon" cycling event, demonstrating his ability to blend traditional sports with modern promotional strategies.

Appointed by President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. in July 2025, Gregorio’s administration has prioritized athlete welfare, facility improvements, professional sports management, and the strengthening of sports tourism.
