Filipina tennis ace Alex Eala has climbed four spots in the latest Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) rankings, released on Monday afternoon, May 18, 2026 (Philippine time).
New Ranking Milestone
Eala rose from world No. 42 to No. 38 following her campaign at the Italian Open, where she secured two wins before falling to world No. 2 Elena Rybakina of Kazakhstan, 4-6, 3-6, in the Round of 32. The performance earned her an additional 55 ranking points, bringing her total to 1,340 points.
Strasbourg Open Ahead
The new rankings come just hours before Eala begins her campaign at the Strasbourg Open in France. In the Round of 32, she will face No. 66 Oleksandra Oliynykova of Ukraine.
Eala’s rise in the world rankings is expected to boost her confidence as she competes in the French tournament. Her career-high ranking is No. 29.
