Foundation University Expo Showcases Student Tech Innovations

DUMAGUETE – Students from Foundation University’s College of Computer Science demonstrated a prototype mobile app that provides real-time updates on water and soil quality for plants grown through hydroponics. The app was among several innovative projects showcased at the 18th Digital Expo, a three-day event held at Robinsons Dumaguete.

Expo Highlights Community-Focused Solutions

The expo highlighted the university’s commitment to fostering innovation and preparing students to become tech-empowered leaders. Other standout projects included TapPark, a mobile app that simplifies pay parking by allowing users to reserve a parking space in advance, and an AI-aided prototype software capable of instantly identifying the quality of cacao beans. These applications were developed by students to address specific community needs, with guidance from faculty members of the College of Computer Science.

Foundation University President Victor Vicente “Dean” Sinco noted that the Digital Expo is the annual culmination of the institution’s tech-focused curriculum and the realization of its vision to generate creative ideas and respond to societal needs. “Since its inception, the Digital Expo has pushed the boundaries of our students’ creativity, inventiveness, and passion to help out with the community’s needs through technology. In recent years, there have been more and more student projects that explore real-world applications of the lessons they have learned from our tech-focused curriculum,” he said.
