3,950 Habal-Habal Drivers Get Aid in Cebu

Around 3,950 habal-habal drivers have received financial assistance from the Cebu Provincial Government amid the ongoing national crisis, according to an announcement on April 29, 2026.

Aid Distribution Details

Elizar Sabinay, executive assistant to the Governor, reported that the data covers the period from April 15 to April 29, 2026. Beneficiaries include drivers from the towns of Cordova, Oslob, Dalaguete, Boljoon, Alcoy, Ginatilan, Ronda, Tuburan, Balamban, Bantayan, Madridejos, Santa Fe, San Francisco, Tudela, Poro, Pilar, and Catmon.

The highest number of habal-habal drivers was recorded in San Francisco, Camotes Island.

Total Aid and Requirements

In total, P11,850,000 has been distributed to drivers to help mitigate the effects of the national crisis, particularly the impact of rising fuel prices. Each driver received P3,000 and rice.

Sabinay noted that a key requirement for identification was ensuring that the driver groups were formed before the aid distribution began.

Future Plans for Fisherfolk

Cebu Governor Pamela Baricuatro announced that beyond habal-habal drivers, the provincial government also plans to provide aid to fisherfolk who use pump boats that consume fuel.

In addition to financial assistance, over 5,165 members of the transport sector have received rice.
