A total of 63 residents have benefited from free institution- and community-based short-term trainings offered by the Technical Institute of Iloilo City (TIIC), which is run by the Iloilo City Government.
Training Programs Completed in March 2026
Records show that in March 2026 alone, 25 trainees graduated from the Emergency Medical Response Training. The remaining 38 trainees completed courses in Basic Computer Hardware Servicing, Culinary Arts, Electronics Servicing, Computer Literacy, Housekeeping Services, Reflexology, Cosmetology, Food and Beverage Management, Basic Geriatric Care, Fashion and Garments Production, Automotive Services NC I, Driving NC I, and Plumbing NC I.
Growing Interest in Skills Development
These 63 trainees are part of 414 inquiries received by TIIC in March. The school accepts applications for the program on a monthly basis, reflecting strong demand for accessible skills training in the city.
Part of the Rise to Kalidad Initiative
The program is a component of the livelihood and training initiative called Rise to Kalidad, which falls under the broader Rise-to-Action Framework, according to TIIC Administrator Ma. Mathilde Treñas.
Empowering Residents for the Workforce
Through these short-term courses, the city aims to empower residents as they enter the workforce or enhance their existing skills to pursue better opportunities. The initiative not only provides training but also includes community outreach activities and knowledge transfer, where graduates share the skills they have gained with barangays. Additionally, participants undergo on-the-job training with partner industries to ensure practical experience.
