A 28-year-old man died after being electrocuted while repairing an internet line at around 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 27, 2026, in Barangay Tomonoy, Moalboal town.

Victim Identified

The victim was identified as Junrey Labang, a resident of Barangay Japitan, Barili town, and a cable technician for a major telecommunications company.

Investigation Details

According to the Moalboal Police Station investigation, the victim's companion, identified only by the alias Carl, reported that they were repairing the internet line when he heard a loud explosion. Looking up, Carl saw Labang hanging from the ladder and already unconscious. He immediately climbed up and helped the victim to bring him to a hospital.

Personnel from the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) responded and rushed the victim to Badian District Hospital. However, the attending physician declared him dead on arrival due to severe electrical effects on his body.

The police received the report at around 1:50 p.m. on the same day and immediately conducted an investigation to determine if there was negligence or foul play involved in the incident.
