The Economic Enterprise Council (EEC) is studying the possibility of leasing out vacant spaces within the Cebu South Bus Terminal (CSBT) as part of its ongoing improvements.

According to CSBT Administrator Ahmed Cuizon, the vacant areas could be used for passenger facilities while they wait for their trips.

"Most likely in segment C, which is near the E-mall, will be very favorable for capsule hotels and bed spaces for out-of-town passengers who arrive at night and want to sleep before boarding in the morning," Cuizon said on Tuesday, May 26, 2026.

The second floor of CSBT near the exit point has been cleared for renovation. Previously, it housed souvenir shops and eateries for passengers. However, under the new Capitol management, all food and souvenir stores have been relocated to the ground floor.

Cebu Governor Pamela Baricuatro earlier announced that the provincial government would explore ways to generate income by leasing out the building.

Meanwhile, both the Cebu North Bus Terminal (CNBT) and CSBT have stepped up security by installing additional closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras in preparation for the opening of classes, especially with the expected influx of students. More CCTV units were installed to strengthen security and cover blind spots, particularly in areas within the two facilities.

This move is part of efforts to improve passenger safety and enhance monitoring amid the anticipated surge in students and daily commuters.

CSBT now has 24 CCTVs, up from 16, while CNBT has increased to 16 from 10.
