The provincial government of Cebu has officially opened its annual holiday showcase for local agriculture and fisheries. The Pasko sa Kapitolyo 2025 Agri-Fishery Trade Fair welcomed the public starting Monday, December 15, 2025, at the Capitol grounds.
Launch and Participation Details
Leading the inauguration ceremony was Cebu Vice Governor Glenn Soco, accompanied by several members of the Provincial Board. The event aims to bridge the gap between local producers and the consuming public. According to official announcements, this year's fair features participants from 17 localities across the province alongside 19 private exhibitors.
Officials noted that the number of participating towns is slightly lower this year. This reduction is attributed to budget constraints faced by some local government units, limiting their ability to join.
A Showcase of Cebuano Bounty and Resilience
The trade fair serves as a vibrant marketplace for Cebu's finest homegrown and crafted products. Visitors can explore a wide array of items, including local delicacies, organic beverages, fresh harvests from farmers, the catch of local fisherfolk, and various processed goods.
Specific highlights from participating towns include:
- Bakasi (sea eels) from Cordova City
- Bingka dawa (millet cake) from Asturias
- Bisayang Manok (native chicken) from Dumanjug
- Fresh vinegar from Catmon
Roldan Saragena, head of the Provincial Agriculture Office, emphasized the fair's significance. He stated that the event demonstrates the unwavering spirit of Cebuanos who continue their livelihoods despite recent calamities that struck the province.
"We must commend our farmers because despite the disasters we faced, our products are still here," Saragena said during the December 15 opening.
Schedule and Invitation to the Public
The Pasko sa Kapitolyo 2025 Agri-Fishery Trade Fair will remain open to the public until Friday, December 19, 2025. Operating hours are from 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM, Monday through Friday.
The provincial government extends an open invitation to all Cebuanos to visit the fairgrounds. The event is a prime opportunity to support local communities by purchasing their high-quality products and sampling the diverse delicacies that represent the island's rich culinary heritage.
