The Commission on Higher Education in Central Visayas (Ched 7) is celebrating its 32nd founding anniversary from May 18 to June, highlighting financial aid and scholarship programs under the national "Bagong Pilipinas" agenda. The agency showcased its ongoing initiatives during the May 26 episode of Kapihan sa Philippine Information Agency, focusing on efforts to provide financial assistance and improve student preparedness for college.
Monthlong Celebration with a Vision for the Future
The anniversary celebration features activities anchored on the theme "Achieving a Knowledge Economy Together for a Future-Ready Bagong Pilipinas." Ched 7 Executive Director Filomena Dayagbil stated that the theme reflects the agency’s commitment to building a knowledge-driven economy by preparing students for future workforce demands. She emphasized the role of higher education institutions in equipping students to meet future challenges and workforce needs.
Key Initiatives: BHBN Development Project
Among the programs presented was the Bridging, Health, Breeding, Numeracy and Development Project (BHBN), a public-private partnership between public and private higher education institutions. The project aims to improve the reading and numeracy skills of senior high school students transitioning to college. Ched 7 said the initiative helps students adjust to academic demands in higher education, boosting their chances of success.
The agency also highlighted its scholarship and student financial assistance programs under the Bagong Pilipinas agenda, designed to help more Filipino students pursue and complete college education. These programs are part of Ched 7's push to widen access to quality higher education across Central Visayas.
Commitment to Expanding Opportunities
Ched 7 remains focused on expanding educational opportunities in the region through partnerships, scholarships, and student support programs. The agency said these initiatives are intended to help students complete their studies and improve access to higher education. By strengthening collaboration between public and private institutions, Ched 7 aims to create a more inclusive and future-ready education system in Central Visayas.
