CIDG-7 seizes 28 firearms, 4 grenades in 72 hours

The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) 7 seized 28 unlicensed firearms and four grenades within 72 hours of consecutive operations in the region.

Oplan Paglalansag Omega Operations

According to data released by CIDG-Regional Field Unit 7, various search warrants and buy-bust operations were launched from May 21 to May 23, 2026, under the campaign "Oplan Paglalansag Omega" against undocumented loose firearms.

Aside from the weapons, 20 individuals were also arrested by authorities for violations of Republic Act 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act).

Seized Items

Based on records, the confiscated items include three long firearms, 25 small handguns, and four grenades.

Latest Operation

The most recent operation was conducted by members of the CIDG Lapu-Lapu City Field Unit on Saturday, May 23, in Barangay Butong, Ronda Municipality, southern Cebu. Through a search warrant, police raided the home of a suspected gun-running individual in the said municipality.

Recovered inside the house were an M1 Carbine rifle, a .22 Magnum rifle, a .38 caliber revolver, magazines, various live ammunition, and several packets of suspected shabu.
