The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) turned over a PHP 300,000 Egg-laying Livelihood Project on May 28, 2026, to the Tulapok Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries and Farmers Association (Tarbefa) in Margosatubig, Zamboanga del Sur. The initiative aims to provide a new source of sustainable income for the organization's members.
Project Details
The livelihood project was implemented under the Partnership Against Hunger and Poverty (PAHP) program, a government convergence initiative that addresses hunger and poverty by linking agrarian reform beneficiaries and farmers' organizations to support services, livelihood opportunities, and market-driven enterprises. DAR-Zamboanga del Sur stated that the project seeks to strengthen the association's existing livelihood activities while creating an additional and sustainable income stream for its members.
Beneficiary Organization
Tarbefa, established in 2022, initially ventured into a lending enterprise. The addition of the egg-laying project marks another milestone in its growth and development as an Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Organization (Arbo). As part of their counterpart, Tarbefa prepared the lot and facility where the egg-laying operation will be housed and managed, along with other necessary operational requirements.
Community Response
During the project turnover, Rodrigo Gumalam, Tarbefa president, expressed heartfelt gratitude to DAR for the continued trust and support extended to their organization. Gumalam noted that the assistance will greatly help uplift the livelihood of their members while opening new opportunities for sustainable income generation within the community.
Training and Sustainability
DAR-Zamboanga del Sur assured that capability-building trainings and technical guidance will be provided to Tarbefa members, particularly those assigned to oversee and manage the operation. This support is designed to ensure the sustainability and long-term success of the livelihood project.
