The Department of Energy's campaign to expand the use of electric vehicles in the country has gained support from various companies and electric vehicle brands. This was evident during the recently concluded 10th Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS) 2026, which saw participation from multiple EV brands, demonstrating their backing for the agency's objectives.
DOE official highlights importance of EV program
According to Director Patrick Aquino of the Energy Utilization and Management Bureau of the Department of Energy, the program is crucial. He stated that it serves as a platform to showcase innovation and the progress of the transportation sector toward more efficient and modern mobility solutions.
Showcase of electric mobility
The event featured electric mobility, with 17 global automotive brands displaying their products. Among the participants was VinFast, which presented various electric vehicle models such as the VF 3, VF 6, Herio Green, and others. The VinFast MPV 7 particularly attracted attention, especially from families, due to its capacity to seat up to seven people and its ability to travel up to 450 kilometers on a full charge using fast charging in just about 30 minutes.
Industry support for government programs
Through their participation, Southeast Asia CEO of VinFast, Antonio Zara III, shared that they support government programs aimed at accelerating the transition to electric mobility.
