The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) 7, through its Supplementary Feeding Program (SFP), held the first virtual Program Implementation Review (PIR) for Calendar Year 2025 and an orientation for CY 2026 via Google Meet on May 25–26, May 28–29, June 1–4, and June 8–11, 2026.
Key Outcomes and Regional Leadership
DSWD 7 Regional Director Shalaine Marie Lucero emphasized that the SFP is a crucial investment in the future of every Filipino child. She stated that beyond providing proper nutrition, the program helps develop the physical, mental, and overall growth of the youth, who will become future leaders.
The review was conducted per legislative district to better monitor the implementation status of the program across various local government units (LGUs). The DSWD 7 honored LGUs that demonstrated outstanding performance in improving the nutritional status of children, timely submission of liquidation reports, and compliance with the requirements of the milk feeding program.
Program Impact and Advocacy
SFP Regional Focal Person Ma. Romilene Padilla stressed that the program is not just about providing food but is an initiative that cares for the overall well-being and growth of children. According to her, the program aims to strengthen advocacy for good nutrition in every local government unit in the region.
Following the Program Implementation Review, an orientation for the implementation of CY 2026 was conducted, discussing the increase in feeding days from 120 to 180 days. This step reflects the DSWD's intensified efforts to combat malnutrition and food deficiency among children, especially those in day care centers and supervised neighborhood play areas in Central Visayas.
