DSWD-Davao Gives P14.9M to Tricycle Drivers

The Department of Social Welfare and Development-Davao Region (DSWD-Davao) announced that it has distributed a total of PHP 14.9 million in Cash Relief Assistance (CRA) to tricycle drivers in Davao de Oro. From April 23 to 28, 2026, the agency provided PHP 5,000 each to approximately 2,985 beneficiaries across seven municipalities, amounting to PHP 14,925,000.

Breakdown of Beneficiaries

Of the total recipients, 463 were from Monkayo, 332 from Montevista, 773 from Nabunturan, 172 from New Bataan, 348 from Compostela, 356 from Maco, and 541 from Maragusan. DSWD-Davao emphasized that the initiative goes beyond temporary relief, serving as additional capital for drivers to sustain their livelihoods and support their families.

Immediate Distribution

The department cited the large number of tricycle drivers in Davao de Oro as the reason for the swift distribution. The program aims to provide immediate financial relief to drivers who depend on daily trips for income, especially amid rising fuel costs.

Previous Disbursements

Earlier, DSWD-Davao distributed PHP 69.3 million to 12,455 beneficiaries across the region. This included PHP 21.425 million on April 8, PHP 30.945 million on April 9, and PHP 10.425 million on April 10. Recipients included 387 in Davao City, 4,322 in Digos City, 3,314 in Panabo City, 2,773 in Tagum City, and 1,743 in the Island Garden City of Samal.

Program Scope

Under the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations (AICS) program, DSWD prioritizes tricycle drivers, followed by jeepney, taxi, UV Express, and TNVS drivers, including motorcycle taxi riders, delivery riders, and bus drivers. The program addresses urgent needs of drivers and their families amid rising daily expenses.
