The Iloilo City Government will distribute fuel subsidy coupons to 883 taxi drivers on May 8, 2026, to help mitigate the impact of rising fuel prices. The distribution is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Quintin Salas Gym in Jaro District.
Subsidy Details
The Iloilo City Traffic and Transportation Management Office (ICTTMO) announced that each qualified driver will receive a P1,000 coupon. This program aims to assist public utility workers in coping with sustained increases in operational costs.
In an advisory addressed to drivers, the City Government stated: “Sa aton mga taxi drivers, ma-release na Iloilo City Government sang fuel subsidy coupons bilang bulig sa tunga sang pagmahal sang presyo sang krudo.” (To our taxi drivers, the Iloilo City Government will release fuel subsidy coupons as a relief amid the rising price of crude oil.)
Distribution and Loading Schedule
According to the advisory, the distribution of coupons will conclude at 11 a.m., while the fuel loading schedule will run from 8 p.m. to midnight. All participating fuel stations will follow this midnight schedule, except for Phoenix Tagbak, which will only accommodate drivers until 10 p.m.
Requirements for Drivers
To receive the assistance, drivers must submit a signed photocopy of their driver’s license for verification and eligibility confirmation.
The initiative is part of the City Government’s ongoing efforts to support public utility drivers affected by fluctuating oil prices and rising transportation expenses. The ICTTMO encouraged drivers with concerns to coordinate with the office through its official communication channels.
While the current release targets 883 beneficiaries, the City has yet to announce if additional batches or further allocations will be implemented in the coming months.
