Checkpoint Operation Details

Police Brigadier General Christopher Abecia, director of the Police Regional Office-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region (Pro-Bar), reported that the suspects were apprehended during a checkpoint operation conducted jointly by the Regional Maritime Unit-12 (RMU-12) and Datu Paglas policemen. The operation was launched after authorities received intelligence about the transport of contraband cigarettes from Zamboanga City to General Santos City aboard two vehicles.

During the inspection, law enforcers observed several master cases and reams of cigarettes in plain view, which were suspected to be illicit. The three individuals on board were arrested after they failed to present required documents, including an authority to transport, Bureau of Internal Revenue registration, and customs papers.
