A 22-year-old student intern was injured in a traffic collision after the motorcycle he was riding crashed into an SUV that allegedly made an illegal U-turn on a double solid line in Barangay Englis, V. Rama, Cebu City, around 7:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 27, 2026.

Victim and driver identified

The victim, identified only by the alias "Mike," a resident of Barangay Labangon, sustained abrasions on his right knee and a shoulder bruise. The driver of the Toyota Fortuner, identified as alias "Loyd," 34, resides in Barangay Tagba-o, Cebu City.

Illegal U-turn cited as cause

According to the investigation, the Fortuner suddenly executed a U-turn in an area where it is prohibited due to a double solid line traffic marking. Mike stated that he was on his way to work as an intern in the mountainous area of Barangay Guadalupe. Due to the suddenness of the incident, he was unable to brake and crashed into the vehicle, which also caused the motorcycle to overturn.

Driver's account

On the part of Loyd, he said that he was about to have breakfast with his wife and two children at a restaurant on the opposite side of the road.

Parties agree to settle at TEU

Both parties agreed to settle the matter at the Traffic Enforcement Unit (TEU) of the Cebu City Police Office.
