Two Arrested for Illegal Coconut Tree Cutting in Argao

Two men were arrested on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, for illegally cutting down coconut trees without a permit in Barangay Binlod, Argao, Cebu. The suspects, identified as Jessie, 43, and Cardo, 46, both residents of Barangay Usmad, were taken into custody by the Argao Police Station and face charges for illegal cutting of coconut trees.

Police Assistance and Seizure

According to reports, personnel from the Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA) requested police assistance after receiving a tip about illegal coconut tree cutting in the area. Authorities caught the two suspects red-handed. Police recovered a chainsaw and 59 pieces of coco lumber, with an estimated value of over P10,000.

Legal Proceedings

The suspects are currently detained at the Argao Police Station while awaiting formal charges. The case highlights ongoing efforts by the PCA and local law enforcement to curb illegal logging of coconut trees, which is prohibited without proper permits.
