Pag-IBIG Fund Offers 1-Month Payment Relief for Typhoon, Quake Victims
Pag-IBIG Announces Disaster Relief for Borrowers

In response to the series of natural disasters that have recently struck various regions of the Philippines, the Pag-IBIG Fund has launched comprehensive relief measures to assist its affected members. The state-run agency announced a one-month payment moratorium and highlighted available housing loan insurance benefits to help borrowers recover from the devastating impacts of typhoons and earthquakes.

Immediate Relief for Disaster-Affected Members

Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development Secretary Jose Ramon P. Aliling, who also serves as Pag-IBIG Fund Board chairman, confirmed the implementation of these support measures on Wednesday, November 19, 2025. The disaster assistance program aligns with the government's directive to accelerate recovery efforts in communities battered by recent calamities.

Pag-IBIG Fund chief executive officer Marilene Acosta emphasized that all housing loans come with built-in insurance coverage that can help members finance repair costs for damaged properties. The one-month payment moratorium is specifically available to borrowers residing in areas declared under a state of calamity due to typhoons Nando, Opong, Ramil, Tino, and Uwan, as well as recent earthquakes that affected Cebu and Davao regions.

Accessible Application Process and Additional Loan Programs

Affected borrowers can conveniently apply for the payment moratorium through Virtual Pag-IBIG, the agency's online platform. Beyond the temporary payment relief and insurance claim assistance, Pag-IBIG is offering two specialized loan programs with subsidized rates:

Pag-IBIG Calamity Loan Program:

  • Eligible members in calamity-declared areas may borrow up to 90% of their Pag-IBIG Regular Savings
  • Annual interest rate of 5.95%
  • Three-year repayment period
  • Built-in three-month grace period

Pag-IBIG Home Improvement Loan:

  • Qualified members can borrow up to P300,000 for repairs or upgrades
  • Five-year payment term
  • Promotional rate of 3% per annum for the first 10,000 borrowers

Coordinated Government Relief Efforts

The Pag-IBIG Fund's disaster response forms part of a broader government initiative to support affected communities. Secretary Aliling has directed multiple housing agencies, including the National Housing Authority, Social Housing Finance Corp. (SHFC), and National Home Mortgage Finance Corp. (NHMFC), to immediately suspend collections to ease financial pressure on disaster victims.

The SHFC has implemented its moratorium for communities affected by typhoon Tino, covering the period from November 4 to December 3. This relief benefits member-beneficiaries in Mimaropa, Western Visayas, Central Visayas, Eastern Visayas, and Caraga regions.

Similarly, the NHMFC has granted a one-month moratorium from November 4 to December 3 for housing loan borrowers in Central and Eastern Visayas who suffered from typhoon damage. These coordinated efforts demonstrate the government's commitment to providing comprehensive support during the recovery period.
