As of June 22, a total of 15,044 transport workers nationwide have received over PHP55 million in cash assistance under the Department of Labor and Employment's Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged Workers (TUPAD)-Tuloy Pasada program, according to a report released on June 23.
Program targets fuel price impact
The assistance aims to cushion the effects of fuel price hikes and ongoing economic uncertainties driven by tensions in the Middle East. The program, which began in April, provides temporary employment and income support to drivers and other transport sector workers.
Beneficiaries include maritime transport workers in the Dinagat Islands, specifically those operating passenger vessels in the province.
Scope of assistance
The cash aid disbursed totals PHP55 million, distributed among 15,044 workers across the country. The TUPAD-Tuloy Pasada program is a targeted intervention by DOLE to support disadvantaged workers in the transport sector during periods of economic strain.
