The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Zamboanga Peninsula and SM City Zamboanga have jointly launched the Vinta Market, a colorful and culturally rich marketplace dedicated to supporting micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) across the region. The grand opening took place on Friday, March 20, as part of the official launch of SM City Zamboanga, marking a significant milestone for local business development.

A Collaborative Effort for Economic Growth

This initiative represents a strategic partnership between the government and private sector aimed at fostering economic growth and community engagement. DTI Zamboanga Peninsula Director Al-Zamir Lipae and SM Supermalls Executive Vice President for Marketing Jonjon San Agustin led the ceremonial unveiling, joined by various stakeholders, entrepreneurs, and guests who gathered to celebrate this new venture.

The Vinta Market brings together 20 local and regional MSMEs, providing them with a prime retail space to showcase their products directly to the public. This marketplace features a diverse array of regional offerings, including handcrafted items, artisanal goods, local delicacies, fashion pieces, and unique souvenirs that highlight the rich cultural heritage of Zamboanga Peninsula.

Inspired by the iconic vinta—a traditional sailboat known for its vibrant sails and deep cultural roots in Mindanao—the market embodies the same spirit of color, movement, and community. SM City Zamboanga emphasized in a statement that the Vinta Market is designed to reflect these cultural elements, creating a lively and meaningful experience for both entrepreneurs and visitors.
