Fuel Prices Skyrocket as Diesel Hits P134.30/L and Gasoline Reaches P112.40/L This Week

The Department of Energy (DOE) has announced another significant increase in petroleum product prices this Sunday, marking the fourth consecutive week of hikes driven by the ongoing conflict in the Middle East. Based on forecasts from Tuesday, March 24 to March 30, 2026, diesel prices have soared beyond P130 per liter, while gasoline has climbed past P100 per liter.

Detailed Breakdown of Price Adjustments

According to the DOE, the following price changes for petroleum products will take effect this week:

  • Gasoline: Increase of P8 to P12 per liter
    • RON 97: From P87.69 to P112.40 per liter
    • RON 95: From P83.10 to P109.78 per liter
    • RON 91: From P82.60 to P102.50 per liter
  • Diesel: Increase of P15 to P18 per liter
    • Standard Diesel: From P107 to P134.30 per liter
    • Diesel Plus: From P114.99 to P144.20 per liter
  • Kerosene: Increase of P12 to P22 per liter, rising from P111.99 to P165.79 per liter

Impact on Transportation and Household Budgets

Energy Secretary Sharon Garin emphasized that the price surge is directly linked to the unrest in the Middle East. Although the increase is smaller compared to last week, it continues to exert a substantial impact on transportation, various industries, and the daily expenses of consumers.

"Even though it is smaller than last week, this is still a significant jump, considering that it will still affect our transportation industry as well as all industries, as well as the buying power of our households, you know," Garin stated during a press briefing on Tuesday, March 24, 2026.

The persistent rise in fuel costs is expected to strain economic activities, particularly in sectors reliant on logistics and commuting, while households may face higher costs for goods and services due to increased operational expenses.
