In a video message delivered on Saturday, April 18, 2026, President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. announced a substantial rollback in fuel prices expected to take effect this week. The President highlighted that this reduction is larger than the previous week's adjustments, signaling relief for consumers across the nation.
Details of the Price Reductions
According to President Marcos, diesel prices are projected to decrease by more than P24.00 per liter, while gasoline will see a drop of P3.41 per liter. Additionally, kerosene prices are set to fall by P2.00 per liter. He emphasized that these cuts are significant and will provide much-needed economic respite to Filipinos.
Call for Full and Immediate Implementation
President Marcos issued a direct appeal to oil companies, urging them to implement the rollback in its entirety, accurately, and without any delays. He stressed that the public deserves to receive the full benefits of these price reductions promptly.
"This rollback is larger than last week's, and its meaning is clear for all of us. Relief is on the way," stated Marcos. He added, "And to our oil companies, my call is clear. Implement the rollback fully, correctly, and without delay. Give the people what is rightfully theirs."
Public Encouragement and Regulatory Oversight
The President encouraged the public to immediately report any potential violations of regulations to authorities, particularly the Department of Energy (DOE). He assured citizens that the government is vigilant and committed to ensuring that the intended relief reaches everyone.
"We are aware of the situation of every Filipino at this time. We will not stop, we will not retreat, and we will not allow this relief to fail to reach the people," Marcos affirmed.
Additional Government Relief Measures
In related efforts, President Marcos confirmed that the P10 fuel discount for public utility vehicle (PUV) drivers will continue. Furthermore, he announced that agencies have begun implementing a moratorium on the expiration of driver's licenses, including student and conductor permits, as well as vehicle registrations set to expire this month. These measures are part of the government's broader relief initiatives to support citizens during this period.
