Filipino motorists and consumers are set to see a significant shift in fuel prices as oil companies implemented a new round of adjustments effective Monday, December 1, 2025. The latest movement brings welcome relief for users of diesel and kerosene, while gasoline prices see a minor uptick.
Major Cuts for Diesel and Kerosene
The most substantial change comes at the pumps for diesel, with oil firms slashing prices by a hefty P2.90 per liter. An even larger reduction was posted for kerosene, which saw a big-time cut of P3.20 per liter. This follows price increases for these products just the previous week, where diesel had risen by P0.60 per liter and kerosene by P1.30 per liter.
For gasoline, however, the trend reversed from the prior week's rollback. After a decrease of P0.20 per liter last week, gasoline prices have now increased by P0.20 per liter.
Year-to-Date Net Increases Remain Significant
Despite this week's favorable adjustments for some fuels, the cumulative net increase for 2025 remains substantial. Based on data as of November 25, the year-to-date adjustments stand at a net increase of P19.70 per liter for gasoline, P24.65 per liter for diesel, and P18.60 per liter for kerosene.
This highlights the volatile nature of global oil markets and their direct impact on local consumer prices throughout the year.
Global Factors Behind the Price Movement
The Department of Energy's (DOE) Oil Industry Management Bureau pointed to several international developments as the primary drivers for this week's mixed price adjustments. Key factors identified include:
- The growing possibility of a ceasefire in the ongoing conflict between Ukraine and Russia.
- Discussions around the potential lifting of Western sanctions on Russian oil exports.
- An expected oversupply in the global crude oil market.
These geopolitical and economic signals have influenced trading sentiments, leading to the downward pressure on international oil prices that resulted in the local rollbacks for diesel and kerosene.
The DOE continues to monitor both global market conditions and local industry compliance to ensure stable and fair fuel pricing for the Philippine public.
