DTI and 2GO Group Unite to Strengthen Logistics Support for MSMEs Across the Philippines
In a significant move to bolster the backbone of the Philippine economy, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has formalized a partnership with 2GO Group, Inc., the country's largest integrated transportation and logistics provider. This collaboration, cemented through a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA), designates 2GO as a key member of the Supply Chain and Logistics Center (SCLC), enhancing nationwide support for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
Expanding Logistics Services Beyond Transportation
Under this new agreement, 2GO transitions into a vital component of DTI's "go-to" logistics network. The company's role will extend far beyond traditional transport services to encompass comprehensive logistics consultancy and advisory support specifically tailored for DTI-registered enterprises. This strategic expansion aims to empower MSMEs with customized logistics solutions that drive efficiency, reduce operational costs, and facilitate business growth.
Ma. Cristina Roque, Secretary of the Department of Trade and Industry, emphasized the importance of this alliance, stating, "This partnership with 2GO strengthens our ability to respond to the logistics needs of Filipino enterprises. Through partners such as 2GO, MSMEs are supported with reliable logistics services that enable cost optimization and business expansion based on their operational needs."
Commitment to MSME Development Through SCLC Initiatives
As part of its dedicated commitment, 2GO will actively support SCLC initiatives through a multifaceted approach. This includes providing logistics consultancy services, participating in business matching and market linkage activities, and assisting in the establishment of Logistics Support Desks at selected Negosyo Centers across the nation. These efforts are designed to create a more accessible and supportive environment for small businesses.
Faye Alonzo, Business Unit Head for Forwarding at 2GO, highlighted the company's readiness, noting, "Our team is ready to support a wide range of logistics requirements, from basic shipping needs to more complex supply chain solutions. We are honored to serve as DTI's logistics partner and to work with the SCLC in helping MSMEs connect to markets and scale with confidence."
Driving Inclusive Economic Growth Through Efficient Logistics
The partnership underscores 2GO's broader mission as a catalyst for commerce and mobility throughout the Philippines. Will Howell, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer of 2GO Group, Inc., remarked, "2GO is a mover and an enabler. We move goods and people across the country, and we continue to find better ways to do so because efficient logistics creates opportunities for Filipinos, supports livelihoods, and drives inclusive economic growth."
This collaboration between DTI and 2GO reflects a shared vision to build a more resilient, accessible, and competitive supply chain ecosystem for MSMEs nationwide. By leveraging 2GO's extensive logistics expertise, the initiative aims to foster sustainable development and enhance the overall competitiveness of Filipino businesses in the global market.
