DTI, Converge Boost Digital Shift for MSMEs

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has forged a strategic alliance with Converge ICT Solutions Inc. to fast-track the digital transformation of the country's micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). This critical sector makes up 99.6 percent of all businesses in the Philippines.

A Crucial Partnership for a Digital Future

Formalized through a memorandum of understanding, this collaboration is designed to dramatically expand MSMEs' access to essential digital resources. The initiative will provide reliable internet connectivity, streamlined digital onboarding processes, and comprehensive training programs. The core objective is to equip small businesses with the modern tools they need to thrive.

Digitalization of our MSMEs is no longer optional but absolutely essential, stated Assistant Secretary Nylah Rizza Bautista, who leads the DTI's Competitiveness and Innovation Group. She emphasized that this partnership is a vital step in leveling the playing field, giving Filipino entrepreneurs a fair chance to succeed in the global marketplace.

Bridging the Digital Divide for SMEs

As part of the agreement, Converge will offer specialized connectivity packages and practical digital solutions to MSMEs enrolled in various DTI programs. This support is intended for a wide range of businesses, from tech startups to traditional enterprises looking to modernize their operations.

Dindo Marzan, Senior Vice President for Converge's SME Group, reinforced the company's commitment. He stated that Converge aims to provide MSMEs with the necessary technology and robust support system to achieve sustainable growth in an increasingly digital economy.

Building an Inclusive Digital Ecosystem

This partnership is a key component of the DTI's broader mission to cultivate an inclusive digital ecosystem across the Philippines. The move ensures that the backbone of the Philippine economy is not left behind in the rapid shift towards a digital-first future. By empowering MSMEs with e-commerce platforms, cloud services, and AI-driven solutions, the initiative seeks to boost their overall efficiency and long-term competitiveness.
