Grab Concludes SuperTakbo Run in Davao with 20,000 Runners Nationwide
Grab SuperTakbo Davao Finale Draws 4,000 Participants

Leading superapp Grab has successfully wrapped up its multi-city SuperTakbo community run series with a grand finale in Davao City, marking the largest and final leg of an initiative that mobilized close to 20,000 participants across six Philippine cities.

Davao Hosts Largest SuperTakbo Gathering

The culminating event at Davao Global Township attracted approximately 4,000 participants, creating a vibrant gathering that included Grab drivers, delivery partners, merchant partners, and everyday consumers. This impressive turnout highlights the platform's expanding and inclusive ecosystem throughout Mindanao, demonstrating how digital services are transforming local communities.

Each stride taken during the community run symbolized Grab's ongoing commitment to economic empowerment and building stronger communities across the Philippines. The event served as a powerful representation of how livelihoods, micro-small-medium enterprises (MSMEs), and consumers are interconnected in a continuous cycle of growth and opportunity.

Mindanao's Digital Economy Hub

According to Grab Philippines Vice President for Cities CJ Lacsican, choosing Davao as the final destination for the SuperTakbo series carries profound significance. "Davao represents the heart of Mindanao's digital economy," Lacsican emphasized. He further explained how the city demonstrates how technology and community can progress together, with drivers and delivery partners achieving more sustainable earnings, MSMEs expanding through digital tools, and consumers benefiting from safe, convenient access to essential services.

Davao's relationship with Grab dates back to 2014 when GrabTaxi first launched in the city. Since then, the platform has introduced multiple services including GrabFood, GrabMart, and GrabCar, enabling thousands of Dabawenyos to access on-demand convenience while supporting local livelihoods. Today, Davao City accounts for more than half of Grab's driver and delivery partner base in Mindanao and hosts thousands of MSMEs growing their businesses through the platform.

Success Stories from Grab Partners

Among the standout GrabFood merchant partners in Davao is Penong's, a beloved homegrown restaurant brand that operates as an "Only on Grab" establishment. Sebastian Regis, Penong's operations lead who participated in the SuperTakbo Davao 21 KM run, shared their success story: "Through GrabFood, we've been able to bring our flavors to more homes across Davao and beyond."

Regis credited Grab's data-driven insights for helping the restaurant innovate its menu, refine promotions, and grow sustainably. The partnership has proven so successful that Penong's was recently named a Grab FanFaves 2025 Regional Winner for Mindanao, marking the second consecutive year the restaurant has received this recognition based on customer orders.

The restaurant's strong performance was further boosted by Grab's Spotlight Campaign, an in-app advertising channel that increased visibility and drove customer conversion. This achievement caps a period of remarkable growth for the local business, demonstrating how digital platforms can amplify traditional enterprises.

Lacsican concluded that the SuperTakbo series stands as a testament to what becomes possible when Grab's super community moves in unity. "Every kilometer run mirrors the journey we've taken together," he reflected, describing the event as a tribute to the resilience and spirit of Filipinos who keep cities moving forward through digital innovation and community collaboration.
