The Cebu South Bus Terminal (CSBT) has officially commenced a critical asphalt and drainage repair project, a move aimed at addressing long-standing infrastructure issues before the anticipated surge in passenger traffic during the upcoming peak season. Terminal Administrator Ahmed Cuizon announced the start of the P12 million initiative, which is being executed by Ten Twenty Allied Developers, following necessary approvals.
Project Details and Timeline
Originally approved as early as October 2025, the project faced delays due to consecutive unfavorable weather conditions, which hindered its timely implementation. Cuizon emphasized that the repairs target persistent problems, stating, "We all know these potholes have been there for a long time, not just recently. When Governor Pam took office, this was one of the matters he prioritized for immediate attention. In fact, the bidding was completed last year... then a Notice to Proceed was issued, and the project has been awarded."
Scope and Execution Strategy
The project encompasses over 3,000 square meters of groundworks, which will be carried out in segments to ensure efficiency and minimal disruption. Work is scheduled to occur nightly from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM, with an estimated completion within 10 days. To facilitate this, certain areas of the terminal require clearing, leading to the temporary relocation of designated Van-for-Hire (V-Hire) units near the Taboan Public Market.
Impact and Assurance
Cuizon reassured the public that normal terminal operations will resume promptly upon project completion, ensuring that the upgrades will enhance safety and convenience for travelers. This proactive measure is part of broader efforts to improve transportation infrastructure in Cebu, addressing community concerns and preparing for increased demand during busy periods.
