Mandaue City Government Center Construction Resumes with 2027 Target

Construction work on the new Mandaue City Government Center has officially resumed, with city officials confirming the restart and setting a target completion date for 2027. The project, which had faced delays, is now back on track under the current administration.

Project Restart and Catch-Up Plan Implementation

City Administrator Gonzalo “Sally” Malig-on stated that the construction recently recommenced approximately two weeks ago. He explained that while staffage orders were lifted last year, the project was temporarily halted due to the Christmas holiday period.

The City Government is now implementing a comprehensive catch-up plan to recover lost time and ensure the project stays on schedule. Malig-on emphasized that recent meetings with the Engineering Office have focused on maintaining momentum despite the delays.

Administrative Changes and Project Continuity

With a new administration in place, officials have reviewed the project plans originally designed before the transition. Malig-on confirmed that only minor adjustments have been made to interior space utilization, with no significant structural changes required.

"The changes are only minor, like expanding certain areas slightly, but nothing major," he noted, reassuring that the overall design remains intact.

Document Compliance and Mayoral Oversight

All previously missing documents for the project have now been submitted and complied with, according to the city administrator. Mayor Thadeo Jovito “Jonkie” Ouano is closely monitoring the project's progress and specifically requested the catch-up plan to ensure the 2027 deadline is met.

"The mayor wants it finished by the year 2027, that's why they were asked to come up with a catch-up plan," Malig-on explained.

Project Specifications and Future Impact

The massive government complex carries a projected cost of P2.5 billion and is expected to serve as a central hub for various city services. City engineers and administrators are working diligently to keep construction on schedule despite previous delays caused by administrative transitions and holiday interruptions.

The center will feature both functional and modernized design elements, reflecting Mandaue City's growth and development needs. Malig-on expressed optimism about the project's forward momentum under current leadership.

"With the catch-up plan and coordination with Engineering, we are confident that the construction will progress efficiently," he concluded.
