NLEX Corporation has announced the successful completion of significant asset enhancement and preventive maintenance works along the Subic–Clark–Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX), marking a major step toward improved road safety and driving comfort for Filipino motorists.
Comprehensive Road Safety Improvements
The tollway company, which manages the 94-kilometer expressway, has focused on delivering tangible improvements that directly benefit drivers. Pavement repairs covering approximately 3,700 square meters have been completed along the route from Dinalupihan to Tarlac, specifically targeting uneven surfaces that could pose driving hazards.
NLEX President and General Manager Luis S. Reñon emphasized the company's commitment to maintaining SCTEX's reputation for excellence. "We're focused on delivering improvements that our motorists can truly feel on the road," Reñon stated. "SCTEX has long been known for its scenic and well-maintained stretches, and we are committed to upholding that reputation by continuously investing in safety and reliability."
Enhanced Safety Features Installation
In addition to pavement repairs, the company has installed 22 additional sets of rumble strips at strategic locations throughout the expressway. These safety features create mild vibrations and audible alerts when vehicles pass over them, effectively warning drivers of potential hazards and encouraging more attentive driving behavior.
With these new installations, the total number of rumble strips along SCTEX now reaches 26, providing comprehensive coverage across the vital transportation corridor. The company has also been working on raising median guardrails by 30 centimeters along sections from Dolores to Luisita, maintaining crucial safety standards while preserving roadway integrity.
Continued Commitment to Excellence
These recent improvements build upon earlier technological upgrades implemented by NLEX Corporation earlier this year, which were designed to enhance toll system efficiency and overall customer experience. The combination of physical infrastructure improvements and technological advancements demonstrates the company's holistic approach to expressway management.
"These improvements form part of our continued efforts to maintain SCTEX as a world-class expressway built on safety, comfort, and reliability," Reñon affirmed. The ongoing investment in SCTEX infrastructure underscores NLEX Corporation's dedication to providing Filipino motorists with superior driving conditions and enhanced safety measures.
NLEX Corporation operates as a subsidiary of Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC), which serves as the toll road arm of Metro Pacific Investments Corporation (MPIC). The company's proactive maintenance approach ensures that SCTEX remains one of the country's premier expressways, supporting economic development and safe transportation across Central Luzon.
