A one-month road closure will be implemented on two lanes of a section of P. Remedio Street in Mandaue City starting today, May 27, until July 6, 2026. This is to facilitate a drainage rehabilitation project by the national government aimed at solving flooding in the area.
Details of the Closure
According to Hyll Retuya, head of the Traffic Enforcement Agency of Mandaue (Team), the closure will begin at the corner of Jollibee (A.S. Fortuna Street) extending towards the Oakridge area and near the SunStar printing office. Although the advisory classifies this as a "partial closure," vehicles will not be able to pass through due to the large machinery operating in the area.
Rerouting Plan
All vehicles entering and exiting the area will be rerouted to M.L. Quezon Street, particularly the road near Barangay Cabancalan Hall. Retuya admitted that they attempted to request Oakridge to allow vehicles to pass through their property, but the request was denied, along with Barangay Banilad.
However, Team assured the public that the project will not cause severe traffic congestion because the road is considered an access road and not a primary thoroughfare.
