Cebu Hosts Global Investors at 2026 Investment Summit

In a significant push to elevate its economic profile, the Province of Cebu successfully launched the Cebu International Investment Summit (CIIS) 2026, a major gathering designed to attract international capital and solidify its reputation as a premier investment destination.

Governor Baricuatro Sets the Vision for Cebu's Future

Governor Pamela S. Baricuatro personally led the opening session and delivered the welcome remarks, setting an ambitious tone for the event. She emphasized Cebu's vast untapped potential and underscored the critical role of strong governance in building sustainable and fruitful partnerships between the government and the global investment community. The summit commenced with a Governor's Night, a special event to welcome the international delegates, partners, and invited guests.

A Global Gathering for Cebu's Economic Ascent

The four-day summit, held from January 12 to 15, 2026, at the Cebu Provincial Capitol Social Hall, was organized by the Cebu Provincial Investment and Promotions Division in collaboration with the Economic Enterprise Council. Its core mission was to strengthen Cebu's position as a leading investment hub in the Asia-Pacific region.

The event drew an impressive roster of participants, including:

  • Around 230 global investors, senior executives, and policymakers.
  • Representatives from sovereign wealth funds.
  • Delegates from key economies: Korea, Singapore, Japan, China, Taiwan, Oman, and Saudi Arabia.
  • Domestic investors and local government leaders.

Congressman Nathaniel M. Oducado contributed to the discussions by explaining the strategic importance of investing in Cebu and the province's pivotal role as a driver for both regional and national economic growth.

Academe Joins Hands with Industry

A notable highlight of the summit was the active participation of the academic sector, showcasing its commitment to supporting the province's economic goals. Mentors from the University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) College of Arts and Sciences, including Margie Visitacion, Roberto Cabardo, and Mary Jun Chavez Delgado, attended the event.

Their presence underscored the vital role of the academe in preparing the future workforce. Organizers emphasized the need for updating investment-related courses, conducting relevant research, developing skills, and aligning information systems with the evolving priorities of modern business to fuel sustainable investment growth.

The Cebu International Investment Summit 2026 marks a decisive step forward in the province's strategic campaign to position itself not just as a Philippine leader, but as a globally competitive and attractive destination for serious, long-term investment.
