The Department of Labor and Employment-Davao Region (Dole-Davao) is gearing up for a significant employment drive in celebration of Labor Day on May 1, 2026. The agency will conduct simultaneous job fairs across multiple provinces in the region, aiming to connect job seekers with thousands of available positions.
Expanding Access to Employment
Suzette Jane A. Antiveros, Regional Employment Programs Focal at Dole-Davao, emphasized that this initiative marks a strategic expansion beyond Davao City to ensure broader coverage throughout the Davao Region. A total of six job fairs are scheduled for May 1, with the main event at SM City Davao offering approximately 1,823 job vacancies.
Job Fair Locations and Vacancies
The other venues include Gaisano Grand Mall in Digos City, Davao del Sur, with 417 vacancies; ABC Gym in Davao Occidental with 26 vacancies; NCCC Mall of Tagum in Davao del Norte with 839 vacancies; the Provincial Capitol Gym in Davao Oriental with 135 vacancies; and Assumption College in Davao de Oro with 329 vacancies.
Overall, 68 employers will participate in these events, providing around 3,500 job vacancies across the region. Many of these positions are entry-level roles, such as customer service representatives and cashiers, making them particularly suitable for first-time job seekers and fresh graduates.
Encouraging Participation
Antiveros urged everyone, especially those seeking employment and recent graduates, to take advantage of these opportunities. She highlighted that Davao City will implement online registration for applicants to streamline the application process and enhance accessibility.
Aiming for High Placement Rates
Reflecting on past successes, Antiveros noted that last year's job fairs achieved a 21 percent on-the-spot hiring rate. She expressed optimism for this year's events, hoping to match or exceed that target by ensuring applicants are well-prepared for employment.
This initiative underscores Dole-Davao's commitment to making job opportunities more accessible across all provinces in the region, fostering economic growth and supporting the local workforce.
