DOLE Empowers Pagadian City Business with Major Financial Boost

The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) has officially provided P820,000 in financial assistance to enhance the operations of a small sole proprietorship in Pagadian City, the capital of Zamboanga del Sur province. This significant support was handed over on Saturday, November 22, marking a pivotal moment for the local business community.

Investment in Growth and Modernization

The recipient, ARAS, a small sole proprietorship located in Lower Lomboy, Tuburan, Pagadian City, received this aid through DOLE’s Adjustment Measures Program (AMP). This program is specifically designed to help businesses improve their competitiveness by upgrading workers' skills and adapting to economic changes.

DOLE Regional Director Albert Gutib, in an announcement on Wednesday, November 26, detailed that the P820,000 assistance was allocated for the procurement of crucial equipment. This includes a digital refrigerant recovery machine unit, portable vacuum pumps, a digital diagnostic kit, and a leak detector set, along with other essential tools to significantly enhance business operations.

ARAS, which has since evolved into Advances Appliances Services, Inc. (AASI), is known for its reliability, customer trust, and adaptability. This injection of resources is expected to further solidify its reputation in a competitive market.

A Program for Pandemic Recovery and Beyond

Director Gutib emphasized that the AMP was created in direct response to the economic damage caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. He explained that many non-essential establishments suffered from lockdowns and closures, creating an urgent need for intervention.

“This AMP Program was carefully designed not only to help employees but also to support establishments, employers, and management,” Gutib stated. The program's core mission is to provide capacity-building, technical support, and business enhancements to help establishments recover, increase productivity, and build confidence among workers.

The support aims to strengthen the competitiveness of the beneficiary establishment and uplift its 35 employees by improving workplace efficiency, service capability, and overall productivity. Gutib added that the program equips both employers and workers with additional knowledge, skills, and a positive attitude to support business management effectively.

Marlos Garsuta, the owner and manager of ARAS, expressed profound gratitude to DOLE for the assistance granted to their firm. Through the AMP, ARAS will benefit from capacity building, including advanced technical training and certifications for its air-conditioning and refrigeration specialists.

The program's comprehensive approach also supports building enhancement and adaptation by providing modern, energy-efficient tools, Information and Communication Technology systems, and backup power solutions. Furthermore, it strengthens compliance with industry standards and fosters employee engagement and harmonious workplace relations, ensuring sustainable growth and industrial peace.
