The Lapu-Lapu City Public Employment Service Office (PESO) has successfully concluded its job fair activities for the year 2025, marking a significant milestone in local employment efforts with hundreds of registrants and immediate hires.
Strong Turnout and Immediate Employment
The Fiesta sa Lapu-Lapu Local and Overseas Job Fair 2025, held on Saturday, November 14, served as the agency's 15th and final job fair for the year. The event took place at the Activity Center within The Outlets at MEZ2 Estate in Barangay Basak, Lapu-Lapu City.
Kim Francisco, the head of PESO, reported that the event saw a remarkable total of 810 individuals registering for various employment opportunities. A detailed breakdown shows that 558 applicants sought local positions, while 252 individuals registered for opportunities abroad.
Partnerships and On-the-Spot Success
The job fair featured participation from a robust lineup of employers, including 25 local companies and seven accredited overseas recruitment agencies. This collaboration proved highly effective, resulting in 155 applicants being hired on the spot during the event.
Francisco emphasized the importance of continued collaboration, stating that for 2026, PESO Lapu-Lapu will maintain its partnerships with the private sector and various government agencies. This strategy aims to facilitate more programs and activities that benefit job seekers in the community.
Future-Focused Career Initiatives
Looking ahead to 2026, PESO is set to fully implement the Career Support and Development Program. This initiative is designed to provide essential career guidance to Grade 10 and Grade 12 students, helping them make informed decisions about their future career paths.
The successful job fair was organized through a cooperative effort involving Aboitiz Economic Estates, MEZ2 Estate, The Outlets, the Department of Labor and Employment, along with other partner agencies and companies, demonstrating a community-wide commitment to addressing employment needs.
