Tragic Electrocution Claims Young Worker's Life

A 19-year-old food stand worker was found dead after being electrocuted while operating cooking equipment in Tagbilaran City on Thursday afternoon, November 20, 2025.

The victim, identified as Jeperson Segora, was working at a lechon manok and liempo food stand located along CPG East Avenue in Barangay Bool when the fatal accident occurred at approximately 5:05 PM.

Discovery of the Tragedy

According to Ricther Barrete, who operates a nearby fruit stand, he discovered the victim lying motionless on the ground. Barrete immediately contacted the Tarsier 117 rescue unit for emergency assistance.

Despite the rapid response from rescue personnel, Segora was declared dead at the scene. The young worker, originally from Binuangan, Misamis Oriental, had been currently residing in Sitio Bolod, Barangay Sapa in Panglao municipality.

Initial Investigation Findings

Preliminary investigation by the Tagbilaran City Police Station revealed that witnesses reported the electrocution happened while Segora was operating an electric roasting machine at the food establishment.

Police authorities have already coordinated with the victim's family to formally inform them about the tragic incident and provide necessary assistance during this difficult time.

The workplace accident has raised concerns about electrical safety standards in small food businesses across the region, particularly regarding proper equipment maintenance and worker safety protocols.
