Manufacturers Commit to Price Stability Amid Rising Oil Costs
In response to the escalating impact of higher oil prices, manufacturers of essential and prime commodities have pledged to maintain current price levels for the next 30 days. This commitment was announced by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) in a press release issued on Tuesday night, March 17, 2026.
Meeting with Industry Leaders
Trade and Industry Secretary Ma. Cristina Roque convened a meeting on Monday, March 16, 2026, with 21 manufacturers representing key sectors. The attendees included producers of canned sardines, bread, bottled water, instant noodles, coffee, canned meat, toilet soap, and candles.
List of Products with Price Freezes
The DTI specified that prices are expected to remain stable for the next 30 days, with no increases anticipated for a range of products. This includes:
- Canned sardines: Unipak, 555, Ligo, Lucky 7, Fresca, Morjon, Golden Town, and Mega.
- Bread products: Pinoy Tasty and Pinoy Pandesal.
- Bottled water: Wilkins and Nature’s Spring.
- Toilet and laundry soaps: Safeguard Pure White, Tide Bar Original Scent, and Green Cross Pure White.
- Condiments: Datu Puti’s soy sauce and vinegar, and Lorins’ Patis.
- Processed canned meat: CDO.

Additionally, the DTI announced that prices for brands such as Lucky Me, Ho-Mi, Argentina, Lucky 7, 555, Swift Premium, Wow!, and Shanghai will remain unchanged for 60 days.
Extended Commitments from Key Companies
Officials from companies including Kopiko, Nescafe, San Mig coffee 3-in1, and Export candle have also pledged to maintain current prices with no increases for the time being. This broader commitment underscores the industry's response to economic pressures.
Background on Pricing Regulations
The press release noted that since the latest Suggested Retail Price Bulletin released by the DTI in February 2025, it covers a total of 191 Shelf-Keeping Units. This framework helps monitor and regulate prices to protect consumers.
Statement from Trade Secretary
Secretary Roque emphasized the dual challenges faced by consumers and manufacturers. "We recognize the financial strain faced by consumers while also acknowledging the cost pressures confronting manufacturers. Our priority remains to ensure fair and reasonable pricing. We thank our manufacturing partners for their commitment and shared concern for Filipino consumers," she stated.
This initiative aims to alleviate the burden on households as oil prices continue to rise, ensuring access to affordable basic goods during this period.
