Philippine Airlines Debuts Flagship A350-1000 in Davao, Expanding Premium Travel in Mindanao
PAL A350-1000 Lands in Davao, First in Mindanao

Philippine Airlines (PAL) is set to make aviation history in Mindanao by deploying its new Airbus A350-1000 to Davao City on Thursday, March 5, 2026. This landmark event, under flight numbers PR1805 and PR1806, represents the first time the airline's flagship jet will operate in the region, signaling a strategic push to expand market reach and promote premium travel options.

A Showcase of Innovation and Strategy

Justin Warby, PAL vice president for sales, announced the aircraft's arrival during the 16th Davao Mega Trade Sale at Abreeza Ayala Malls last weekend. He revealed that the A350-1000 is scheduled to land in Davao around 2 p.m. on March 5, with a return flight later that day. Warby expressed pride in the aircraft, noting its impressive size and appeal to aviation enthusiasts.

"We're very proud of this aircraft," Warby said. "For plane spotters like me, it's a huge aircraft. If you're not busy, you'll see it fly in and fly out of Davao."

Pioneering Leadership in Southeast Asia

PAL has positioned itself as the first airline in Southeast Asia to operate the A350-1000, branding it as its new flagship. This move is part of a broader strategy to compete more aggressively in long-haul and premium travel segments, aiming to elevate service standards and reinforce its identity as the Philippines' flag carrier.

Limited Domestic Deployment and Market Testing

The Davao flight is a limited domestic deployment, with Warby clarifying that this is the only scheduled appearance in the city "that we know of at the moment." Additionally, the jet will operate a Manila-Cebu-Manila service on March 12. PAL executives view the Mindanao run as both a showcase and a market test, allowing provincial passengers to experience the aircraft's upgraded cabins without the need for international travel.

Enhanced Passenger Experience

The A350-1000 boasts a range of premium features designed to enhance comfort and connectivity. Business class suites include sliding privacy doors, fully flat beds, direct aisle access, multiple charging options such as USB ports and wireless charging docks, and large 4K entertainment screens.

Premium economy passengers benefit from upgraded seats and enhanced amenities, while economy class travelers enjoy ergonomic seats with four-way headrests, USB charging ports, and personal device holders. The aircraft also offers enhanced onboard connectivity, including Wi-Fi access throughout the cabin.

Strategic Vision for the Future

Warby emphasized that the A350-1000 reflects PAL's commitment to elevating the passenger experience. As the airline integrates this advanced aircraft into its fleet, it aims to set a new standard of comfort, allowing passengers to "feel the warmth of the Philippines the moment they step on board." This initiative underscores PAL's dedication to innovation and customer satisfaction in the competitive aviation industry.
