GCash has formalized a partnership with Ayala Foundation, Inc. (AFI) to launch the U-GO Scholar Grant Program, aiming to support 100 young Filipino women in pursuing technology-related education. This initiative reinforces GCash's commitment to making opportunities more accessible in the digital economy.

Addressing Barriers in Tech Education

Many qualified female students face financial constraints that hinder their access to higher education, particularly in tech fields. Through this program, GCash helps bridge the digital gap by providing financial assistance, mentorship, and pathways into its tech ecosystem. The Ayala Foundation's rigorous selection and academic monitoring ensure scholars gain the skills needed for a digital-first workforce.

Program Details and Impact

GCash and AFI aim to support 50 scholars, matched by another 50 from U-GO, totaling 100 beneficiaries pursuing four-year degree programs aligned with industry needs. AFI Senior Director for Development Programs Jay de Quiros stated, "Through this partnership, these young women will not only receive financial assistance to stay in school, they will gain access to mentorship from GCash professionals, exposure to real-world environments, and guidance as they navigate pathways into tech careers."

AFI Senior Director for Marketing and External Relations Paul Vincent Mercado added, "In many ways, what we are building together is not just a scholarship program, but a talent pipeline. The program covers allowance, lodging, transportation, food, and school-related expenses, along with structured mentorship, training sessions, and curated career exposure. These components equip scholars with skills, confidence, and networks for success in the digital workforce.
