In a significant push to address the critical shortage of learning spaces in the country, the Security Bank Foundation Inc. reported a major expansion of its education initiatives throughout 2025. The foundation's efforts come as the Philippines continues to grapple with a lack of adequate classrooms and millions of children who are not in school.
Concrete Contributions to Infrastructure and Training
The foundation's work last year delivered tangible results on the ground. It successfully turned over 62 brand-new classrooms to public schools across the nation. Beyond new construction, the organization also focused on improving existing but dilapidated facilities, repairing or rehabilitating 128 damaged classrooms.
This annual contribution significantly boosts the foundation's cumulative impact. To date, Security Bank Foundation has donated a total of 901 classrooms spread across 153 public schools nationwide.
Recognizing that infrastructure alone is not enough, the foundation also invested in enhancing the quality of education. In 2025, it trained nearly 170 school principals and teachers to improve their skills and methodologies. Furthermore, to remove barriers to learning, the foundation provided eyeglasses to over 1,000 students, ensuring that vision problems do not hinder academic performance.
Scholarships and Strategic Partnerships
Direct support for students remained a key pillar of the foundation's strategy. The program supported more than 300 scholars financially, helping them pursue their education without the burden of tuition fees and other school-related expenses.
The foundation emphasized that its efforts were amplified through collaboration. Partnerships with government agencies, local schools, and private companies were crucial to the scale and success of its programs. A key milestone was securing a nationwide agreement with the Department of Education (DepEd), which formally recognized the foundation's teacher and principal training programs.
Looking Ahead to 2026 and Beyond
With the education crisis far from over, Security Bank Foundation is not slowing down. The organization has already announced plans for further classroom construction and repair projects in 2026. This continued commitment underscores the long-term nature of its mission to bolster the Philippine public education system.
The foundation's multi-pronged approach—building classrooms, training educators, supporting scholars, and providing essential health interventions—demonstrates a comprehensive strategy to tackle the complex challenges facing education in the Philippines.
