Abellana National School Embraces National Arts Month with Vibrant Student Activities
Abellana National School (ANS) proudly participated in National Arts Month (NAM), a nationwide celebration held every February that highlights Filipino artistry through a variety of exhibits, performances, and collaborative projects. At ANS, the festivities included an array of engaging activities such as spoken poetry, festival dances, hip-hop performances, painting contests, digital art competitions, filmmaking showcases, and singing contests. These events were designed to encourage students to express themselves freely, focusing on their artistic passions beyond the academic curriculum.
Grade 8 Students Triumph in Social Dance Contest
On February 23, 2026, Grade 8 students competed in a social dance contest, where they showcased dynamic steps and remarkable creativity. Dion Drei Dallas Del Mar, a participant, shared insights into their journey, revealing how last-minute costume cancellations and initial doubts tested their resolve. Through mutual encouragement and strong teamwork, the group overcame these obstacles and secured first place for their outstanding choreography. Their experience demonstrated that perseverance and cooperation are key to achieving success in such endeavors.
The Deeper Value of Teamwork in Arts Celebrations
While some students joined the activities primarily for academic grades, the deeper value of NAM lies in fostering teamwork. Preparing dances with handmade costumes and original choreography often led to disagreements and exhaustion among participants. However, it was through these challenges that teamwork transformed potential conflicts into unity and joy. In these moments, students discovered the strength of collaboration, learning that working together can turn difficulties into rewarding experiences.
National Arts Month as a Movement for Youth Empowerment
National Arts Month, also recognized as Mapeh month, serves to empower youth talents across the school. It is more than just a celebration; it is a movement that embraces the three Cs: Creativity, Culture, and Collaboration. This initiative inspires students to unite through art, promoting a sense of community and shared purpose. By participating in NAM, ANS students not only showcase their artistic skills but also build lifelong values that extend beyond the classroom.
