Abellana National School Achieves Milestone with Tesda Accreditation

Abellana National School (ANS) has reached a significant achievement in technical-vocational education by obtaining its Certificate of Accreditation from the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (Tesda) Region 7. This recognition transforms ANS into an official hub for National Certificate (NC) 2 assessments, bolstering the expanding network of accredited senior high schools across Region 7.

Ceremony Highlights Commitment to Quality Education

The awarding ceremony took place on January 30 at the Department of Education (DepEd) 7 office in Sudlon, Lahug, emphasizing the critical role of high-quality facilities in equipping senior high school learners for future employment. Tesda 7 Director Gamaliel B. Vicente Jr. noted that Abellana's accreditation is part of a broader initiative spanning Cebu and nearby provinces, with multiple schools recently receiving similar recognition.

Regional Success and Student-Focused Approach

DepEd Regional Director Salustiano T. Jimenez highlighted the region's impressive 89.4 percent passing rate, which ranks as the second highest nationwide. He stressed that accredited laboratories are essential for ensuring students from various schools are adequately prepared for the workforce. "It's not for us actually, it's for these children; these laboratories are for the students," Jimenez stated, underscoring the student-centered mission behind these efforts.

National Alignment and Program Offerings

Tesda's accreditation drive aligns with a national strategy to synchronize senior high school programs with current workforce demands. Abellana's accredited programs include:

  • Electrical installation and maintenance
  • Shielded metal arc welding
  • Hilot
  • Dressmaking
  • Computer systems servicing

These programs provide students with direct access to industry-standard tools and reinforce Region 7's leadership in technical-vocational education, paving the way for enhanced career opportunities and regional economic growth.
