Miss Universe PH 2026 Gets Traditional Tattoo from Whang-Od's Kin

Miss Universe Philippines 2026 Bea Millan-Windorski has revealed that she received a traditional tattoo from Elyang Wigan, the grandniece of legendary mambabatok Apo Whang-Od. The beauty queen shared the news in an Instagram post, detailing the significance of the three-dot design.

Symbolism of the Three-Dot Tattoo

According to Millan-Windorski, the three dots represent the continuation of the mambabatok art form through three generations: Apo Whang-Od, her niece Grace Palicas, and grandniece Elyang Wigan. She also noted that the tattoo serves as a personal reminder of her mother and grandmother, who shaped her into the woman she is today.

Beauty Beyond the Surface

In her post, Millan-Windorski reflected on her evolving perception of beauty. "As a pageant queen, I am often asked about my perception and definition of beauty, but I was reminded in the lush contours of the Cordillera and in the presence of the women mambabatok that beauty is more than meets the eye," she wrote.

A Proud Symbol for the International Stage

The tattoo also carries a broader cultural significance. "My tattoo also serves as a reminder of the strength and perseverance of Filipino culture, one that I will be proud to share on the international stage," she added. The Miss Universe Philippines 2026 titleholder received the tattoo from Elyang Wigan, who is part of the lineage preserving the ancient tattooing tradition of the Kalinga people.
